Quotation checklist

How to specify an abrasive roll.

These details help narrow the backing, grit and construction before a product is recommended for evaluation.

Understand coated abrasive construction
01
Roll width and length

State the required dimensions in millimetres and confirm any equipment limits.

02
Hand, machine or conversion use

Describe exactly how the roll will be cut, held, fed or processed.

03
Workpiece material

Name the timber, board, metal, paint system or other surface being sanded.

04
Required P grit

Give the current grit sequence and identify where removal, scratches, loading or finish problems occur.

05
Current abrasive

Share the brand, product code and backing if known. Clear photographs can help with identification.

06
Required result and quantity

Define the desired preparation or finish and the quantity needed for evaluation or production.

Select the complete roll construction.

Backing, grain, coating and grit work together. A roll suited to one material or sanding method may not suit another.

Abrasive performance also depends on pressure, speed, extraction, workpiece condition and operator practice. Evaluate a complete specification before wider production use.

Paper-backed or cloth-backed sanding roll?

Backing choice is an application decision, not a quality ranking. Use the required flexibility, strength and sanding method to narrow the option.

L-555 · Paper backing

Open-coated paper abrasive

For suitable general sanding where paper support, chip clearance and reduced loading are important selection factors.

CJ 4000 · J-weight cloth

Flexible general-purpose abrasive

For suitable wood and metal sanding, including curved and specially shaped surfaces that need greater conformability.

Abrasive roll FAQ.

Clear specifications make product selection and sample evaluation more useful.

What are the standard abrasive roll dimensions and grit ranges?

The standard roll length is 50 metres. L-555 paper rolls are available in P40–P400, with common widths of 100 mm and 300 mm. CJ 4000 cloth rolls are available in P60–P600, with common widths of 50 mm and 100 mm and additional 25 mm and 150 mm widths.

What is the difference between L-555 and CJ 4000 sanding rolls?

L-555 is an open-coated, paper-backed aluminium oxide abrasive. CJ 4000 is a flexible J-weight cloth-backed aluminium oxide abrasive suited to general-purpose wood and metal sanding, including curved or shaped surfaces.

Can sanding roll dimensions be customised?

Yes. Citra Oasis can customise abrasive roll dimensions subject to product construction, grit, material width and availability. Provide the required width, length, application and quantity for confirmation.

Which grit should I choose?

The starting grit depends on what must be removed; the finishing grit depends on the next operation and required scratch pattern. Review the grit sequence guide and evaluate the full process.
